The Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia along with the Nova Scotia Department of Advanced Education is pleased to sponsor a three-part training program for AANS Shellfish and Finfish operators. Over the past seven months, classroom training in aquaculture productivity and HACCP risk analysis has been offered.
We are now offering individualized training sessions on standard operating procedure development, risk analysis and risk control plan development.
These sessions will consist of a personal visit to your farm by Melissa Rommens of Sustain Aqua. During that time she will review the value of having standard operating procedures, risk analysis and risk control plans. She will then go through the process of how to apply these management tools on the farm. You and your staff can then work directly with her on any or all of these elements, according to your need.
In order to be eligible for this service, participating companies must meet the following criteria:
- Be registered with the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stock Companies
- Have been in existence for more than one year
- Has at least $25,000 in wages or owner remuneration
- Be a seafood producer (“Sea Farmer”)
Participants will need to fill out forms prior to the training to ensure eligibility.
This training opportunity is appropriate for all scales of production and all levels of technical knowledge.
Please, if you want to register for a session email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Within that e-mail, define a timeframe for the training that would best suit your schedule.
