AANS to launch Oyster Engagement Workshop

The Aquaculture Association of Nova Scotia (AANS), acting through the Nova Scotia Oyster Committee has established a project to engage Nova Scotia’s oyster farmers to advance the development of the industry in the province.

To that end, we are pleased to report that we have engaged the services of Mr. Paul Kaulback of Catalyst for Productivity Improvement Consulting Services Inc. (CPI) to work with the Nova Scotia Oyster Committee and all oyster farmers in Nova Scotia. With his help, we are looking to develop a clear understanding of our oyster growers priorities for the next number of years. CPI will be engaging with oyster farmers beginning in December to identify current successes, opportunities for growth and constraints to the industry.

The information, gathered through virtual and regional in-person workshops, will result in the creation of the industry development plan, followed-up by a presentation at the AANS’ Annual General Meeting. The AANS has a value proposition to hear the thoughts of Nova Scotia’s oyster farmers and report to the Board of Directors with a strategy to develop the industry to its maximum productivity.

To be eligible to participate in the engagement workshops, farmers must be members of the AANS and register in advance. If you would like to sign up, visit this page. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the AANS at (902) 422-6234 or rdc@seafarmers.ca, or contact Nolan D’Eon at nolanrdeon@hotmail.com.

We are looking forward to the participation of all our oyster farmers on this initiative to drive our industry forward.
